A Change of Seasons is a song about the cycle of life. It reminds me everything is temporary, I don't need permission to live my life, and that Dream Theater is still my favorite band.

While you might not share my music taste, I'm sure we have in common the drive to become a better version of ourselves. We want to lead by design, not by default. We want to make positive, lasting change for those we care about. We picture ourselves finishing triathlons, writing books, and saying: "my work here is done".

Sometimes, though, those uplifting visions fade away, blurred by a learned script of compliance, convenience, and fear.

I saw myself acting out the script yesterday.

I almost asked someone else for the green light to share something I'd created on my own. That person wasn't expecting my request. In fact, permission wasn't needed at all. Wait, was I sabotaging myself? Yes I was.

"The words stuck in my mind
Alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned"*

I'm grateful I've returned home on time; on time to realise I was letting my inner limiter take the best out of me. I know it's up there in my head to protect me. But that's not what I want. What I want is to take risks, embrace options, and listen to A Change of Seasons, on repeat, because...

"... Seasons change and so can I"*

Seize the day, enjoy this season, and listen to your favorite song, on repeat!
